In case products are temperature sensitive, they can be dried under vacuum, reducing the boiling temperature of the liquids.  During the drying process, products go through different stages and may be sticky or start lumping.  The types of vacuum dryers are diverse to suit the needs of each application.  There are vertical and horizontal dryers, with or without lump breakers.  Dryers can be self-cleaning to avoid product build up on the dryer walls and/or include paddles and agitators.

Nutsche filter-dryers combine both filtration of slurry, washing and dewatering the solids, after which the solids can be dried by vacuum drying.
