Dry hot solids with good flowability can be cooled down efficiently with vertical plate coolers.
The plates are installed with a predefined space between them in a steel housing and are cooled with cooling water.
The hot solids are fed in the hopper section above the plates and they start flowing down by gravity, soon meeting the cooled plates. While travelling down between the cooled plates, the solids are cooled to the required design temperatures.
The travel speed is controlled by the discharge system.
The main advantage of this type of cooler is energy efficiency and minimal use of sweeping air, which reduces the need of massive emission treatment plants.
